John O’Connor -Managing Director, Brookehouse
John graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Bachelors Degree in Literature and a Diploma in Education. His 30 year teaching career began in Australia, and for the last 28 years he has worked in Kenya.
Born in Perth, Western Australia, John chose to take Kenyan citizenship a decade ago. He was at Hillcrest School in Nairobi in various roles for 14 years, before becoming Director at Brookhouse School in 2004.
John currently serves on the Board of Trustees of Round Square as the Regional Director for Africa. He is a visiting team member, reader and co-chair for the Council of International schools (CIS) and a member of AISA.
In 2012, John was invited to join the Heads of the G-20 group of schools.
He also serves on the Board of Trustees of the Human Needs Project, a community sustainability initiative for the people of Kibera.
